Situated in the Puttlam district, this temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva has been in existence since 1000 CE and it is one of the 5 Ishwarams. The temple complex is a collection of five temples, including a Buddhist temple. The central temple dedicated to Shiva  is the biggest, and is popular amongst Hindus. The other temples are dedicated to  GaneshaAyyanayake and Kali.  Navarathri and Sivarathri are the 2 main festivals celebrated here, however the temple has a festival of its own which is called the Munneswaram festival which is celebrated over 4week period .
