Munneswaram temple
Situated in the Puttlam district, this temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva has been in existence since 1000 CE and it is one of the 5 Ishwarams. The temple complex is a collection of five temples, including a Buddhist temple. The central temple dedicated to Shiva is the biggest, and is popular amongst Hindus. The other temples are dedicated to Ganesha, Ayyanayake and Kali. Navarathri and Sivarathri are the 2 main festivals celebrated here, however the temple has a festival of its own which is called the Munneswaram festival which is celebrated over 4week period .
