One of the many reasons for why people visit Sri Lanka is because of its extremely diverse wildlife offerings . Although it is one of the smallest countries in the world, this little island , boasts of one of the highest rates of biological endemism , and is in fact ranked amongst the world’s top twenty five biodiversity hot spots. Abounding with awe inspiring eco diversity, Sri Lanka lays claim to rare species of flora and many faunal groups  including mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles that cannot be easily found anywhere else in the world. Furthermore through the years the country has earned itself a name for being one of the best places in the world to watch Elephants and Leopards in their natural habitats.

Visitors can avail themselves of the opportunity to witness wild and endangered  species in their natural habitats by visiting the many national parks and wildlife sanctuaries that are scattered around the country.
